With a cast of over 20 women, “Synergy Rising” was born from the energy dancers create by dancing together each week. Though NSDC may only come together for a short time to dance, we are bonded together for that time...sharing each others joys and burdens. Synergy rising is the experience of dancing with like-minded women; it is the spirit of NewStage dance company.
The original show is based on five vignettes with different themes; three or four dances revolve around a central character. Each vignette tells a different story - a relationship gone bad, finding love, accepting and embracing your body image...
NewStage Dance Company is pleased to present an abridged version of"Synergy Rising" for the Dance Complex community.
About the Dance Complex...Founded in 1991, theDance Complex grew out of the need to save the historic Odd Fellows Hall as a space for dance. Members of the dance community rallied to save this vital building, when the former owners closed its doors and declared bankruptcy. Through the combined efforts of the dance community, the City of Cambridge and the Central Square Business Association, the Dance Complex purchased the Odd Fellows Hall, securing a home for the movement arts.
Responsive to the needs of the community, the Dance Complex is open seven days a week, serving as a base for over 15 regional dance companies. Hundreds of volunteers are responsible for running and maintaining the facility, led by a part time staff of five artists and a Board of Directors. The Dance Complex is a community of people committed to sharing both the responsibility and the reward of securing and maintaining a facility for dance.
